According to a statement from his family, Maître Mountaga Tall, a lawyer and Malian political figure, was abducted from his home in Faladié (Bamako) on the evening of Saturday 2 May 2026. According to the statement, two hooded individuals reportedly arrived at his home, where they forcibly took him away in unregistered vehicles, whilst his family members looked on helplessly.
According to the same source, his wife, who was attempting to record the incident on her mobile phone, was violently attacked by the assailants, who also seized her phone. A complaint regarding the abduction was subsequently filed with the relevant authorities.
This incident has taken place against a backdrop of particularly volatile security and political conditions in Mali. On 25 April 2026, several towns, including Bamako and Kati, were the target of simultaneous attacks that resulted in significant loss of life, including that of the Minister of Defence and Veterans’ Affairs. Following these events, the military court in Bamako announced on 1 May 2026 that a judicial inquiry had been opened. As part of this, several arrests have already been made, notably targeting political figures and members of the armed forces, and the investigation is continuing to identify any possible accomplices.

Selon ce communiqué, deux individus cagoulés se seraient présentés à son domicile, où ils l’auraient emmené de force à bord de véhicules non immatriculés, sous les yeux impuissants des membres de sa famille.
Selon la même source, son épouse, qui tentait de filmer l’incident avec son téléphone portable, a été violemment agressée par les assaillants, qui lui ont également confisqué son téléphone. Une plainte concernant cet enlèvement a ensuite été déposée auprès des autorités compétentes.
Cet incident s’est produit dans un contexte de grande instabilité sécuritaire et politique au Mali. Le 25 avril 2026, plusieurs villes, dont Bamako et Kati, ont été la cible d’attaques simultanées qui ont fait de nombreuses victimes, parmi lesquelles le ministre de la Défense et des Anciens combattants. À la suite de ces événements, le tribunal militaire de Bamako a annoncé le 1er mai 2026 l’ouverture d’une enquête judiciaire.
