Event Summary
Following the prevention of entry of Ms Nassera Dutour (née Yous), an Algerian citizen holding a valid Algerian passport, on 30 July 2025, Dutour lodged an appeal for annulment against this entry ban decision. The case was registered on 10 August 2025 and the Ministry of the Interior was duly notified on 14 August 2025. The hearing before the Algiers Administrative Court of Appeal was scheduled for 26 January 2026. Ms Dutour’s legal team issued a statement denouncing a particularly worrying aspect of the rule of law: the administration has not produced any substantive response, has not filed any reply brief and has not contributed any evidence to the debate to justify the contested measure, despite the timely filing of the defence’s documents. The group points out that any restriction on freedom of movement, and in particular on the right to enter one’s own country, must be based on clear, reasoned, necessary and proportionate legal grounds and be subject to effective judicial review.
