The National Institute of Information and Communication Technologies (INTIC) announced the opening of the public consultation period for the first version of the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy (ENIA), running from 4 May to 4 June, 2026. INTIC has made the document available in editable formats on its official portal in order to gather contributions aimed at improving a strategy intended to be robust, ethical, and inclusive.
This event is crucial for the enabling environment, as the introduction of AI systems in Mozambique directly affects privacy, freedom of expression, and digital security. Civil society is encouraged to participate actively to ensure that the governance of this technology respects fundamental rights and promotes sustainable development without excluding vulnerable groups.
This is a critical consultation phase, taking place after the preparation of the initial technical draft and before its submission for final governmental approval. Therefore, although the initiative has already been launched, the process of gathering contributions and the public debate on the ethical and regulatory pillars of artificial intelligence in Mozambique remain ongoing.
The successful completion of this stage will determine whether the final strategy reflects civil society’s concerns regarding privacy and digital rights, making this one-month period an essential window of opportunity for civic advocacy.
