Event Summary
On 10 July 2025, the Moroccan government published Ministerial Decision, launching a subsidy program for associations, institutions, and companies to support the integration of the Amazigh language in public administration and digital transformation. This initiative follows sustained advocacy by civil society, notably the NGO Azetta Amazigh, and builds on a government fund established in 2023 to implement the official status of Amazigh.
Civil society has welcomed the move as a step toward participatory government, enabling organizations to access funding for language inclusion projects. While the quality of proposals remains to be seen, the initiative is expected to enhance linguistic rights, strengthen freedom of expression, and expand access to public services. It marks a significant shift toward institutionalising cultural rights.
