The ultimatum sets a strict deadline of 31 July 2026 and stems from a “100-day program” introduced during his inaugural sham cabinet session on 13 April.
The junta’s demand was immediately and universally rejected by major revolutionary actors. Key signatories of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA), including the Karen National Union (KNU), Chin National Front (CNF), and All Burma Students’ Democratic Front (ABSDF), formally declared the accords void due to the military’s repeated atrocities and post-coup violence. Non-signatory groups like the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and Arakan Army (AA) maintained high-intensity combat operations, ignoring the overture entirely. Furthermore, the National Unity Government (NUG) and the National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC) issued declarations branding the peace offer a deceptive sham, reaffirming their collective commitment to dismantle the military dictatorship and establish a true Federal Democratic Union.
Analysts emphasize that the demand for total disarmament is completely detached from the territorial reality, where autonomous resistance forces effectively control vast regions of the country.
