Event Summary
On 24 February 2026, Transport Minister accused the daily newspaper Jamaica Gleaner and the People’s National Party, PNP, of collaborating to undermine the government’s rural school bus programme. In a story published on Tuesday, the Jamaica Gleaner reported that PNP president has approached major investigative agencies to probe what he described as irregularities with the procurement of the buses. The newspaper referenced letters the PNP president wrote in July 2025. But hitting back in a statement, Transport Minister says the letters were timed to influence the outcome of the September 3 general election. The minister doubled down on his position in an interview with George Davis and Tauna Thomas on Nationwide This Morning show.
