On 17 July 2026, Zambia Police detained Zambia National Broadcasting Coporations(ZNBC) journalist MacPherson Mukuka in Lusaka over allegations of recording and publishing a private conversation without the knowledge or consent of the parties involved. According to police, the alleged offense occurred between 14 and 17 July 2026, when Mukuka allegedly published an article and an audio recording of a private meeting on the Facebook page Earth Television Zambia. He has been accused of contravening Section 10 of the Cyber Crimes Act No. 4 of 2025, which prohibits the recording of private conversations without prior notice. Police stated that investigations are ongoing.
