To protest against the revision or amendment of the Constitution, opposition political parties grouped within the C64 coalition, together with allied social movements, planned to organize a sit-in at the Parliament of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) on Friday, 12 June 2026.
In order to prevent the demonstration from taking place at the location chosen by the political opposition, Congolese authorities deployed an imposing security apparatus early in the morning, consisting of members of the Congolese National Police (PNC), military personnel, and agents from other security services.
While marching toward Parliament, the demonstrators were violently dispersed and retreated to seek refuge at the headquarters of ECiDé, the party led by opposition figure Martin Fayulu. There, projectiles were thrown at them by both certain members of the PNC and numerous individuals claiming to be members of the Force du Progrès, a group supported and maintained by the UDPS.
Dozens of people, including opposition leaders such as Martin Fayulu, Jean-Marc Kabund, Delly Sesanga, and Ados Ndombasi, were injured. Several dozen others were arrested, including pro-democracy activists Gauthier Kasongo Ilunga, Best Mulamba, Trésor Muteba, and Gloire Buka.
Cases of looting and extortion involving personal property—including computers, mobile phones, and cash—were also reported.
Several other opposition party headquarters were likewise attacked.
Repression Musclee, Sanglate et Dispropotionnee de la Manifestation de L’Opposition Politique a Kinshasa-RDCongo
En vue de protester contre la révision ou le changement de la Constitution, des partis politiques de l’opposition regroupés au sein de la coalition C64 et leurs alliés des mouvements sociaux ont prévu d’organiser vendredi 12 juin 2026 un sit -in au Parlement de la RDCongo. Pour empêcher la tenue de cette manifestation à l’endroit souhaité par l’opposition politique, les autorités congolaises ont déployé tôt le matin un dispositif sécuritaire impressionnant composé des éléments de la Police Nationale Congolaise, des militaires et des agents d’autres services de sécurité. En pleine marche pour rejoindre le Parlement, les manifestants ont été de manière violente dispersées et se sont repliées pour se mettre à l’abri au siège de l’Ecidé de l’opposant Martin Fayulu où des projectiles leur ont été lancés à la fois par certains éléments de la PNC et de nombreuses personnes se réclamant membres de la force du progrès soutenue et entretenue par le l’UDPS. Des dizaines de personnes dont les leaders de l’opposition politique notamment Martin FAYULU, Jean-Marc Kabund à Kabund, Delly SESANGA, Ados NDOMBASI ont été blessées et quelques dizaines des personnes interpellées parmi lesquelles les activistes pro-démocratie ( Gauthier KASONGO ILUNGA, Best MULAMBA, Tresor MUTEBA, Gloire BUKA). Des extorsions de biens ( ordinateurs, téléphone, argent) ont été enregistré. De nombreux autres siège des partis politiques ont été également attaqués.
