On Wednesday, 17 June 2026, the Chilean Chamber of Deputies approved a draft resolution calling on President José Antonio Kast to eliminate the use of inclusive language in all of the country’s public services. The initiative, spearheaded by the UDI caucus and other right-wing lawmakers, was backed by 85 votes in favor, 53 against, and one abstention.
The text instructs the Executive Branch to “revoke circulars, resolutions, or other administrative acts that mandate the use of inclusive language in various public services and to issue a decree mandating the correct use of the Spanish language, prohibiting any grammatical distortion based on gender, ethnicity, or other identity-based classifications.” Congressman Jorge Alessandri (UDI), president of the Chamber, read the proposal, noting that it seeks to “immediately prohibit any grammatical distortion based on gender, ethnicity, or other identity-based classifications.” Republican Congressman Cristián Araya celebrated the measure on social media with a “Goodbye to the ‘woke’ dictatorship!”

El miércoles 17 de junio de 2026, la Cámara de Diputadas y Diputados de Chile aprobó un proyecto de resolución que solicita al presidente José Antonio Kast eliminar el uso del lenguaje inclusivo en todos los servicios públicos del país. La iniciativa, impulsada por la bancada de la UDI y otros parlamentarios de derecha, fue aprobada con 85 votos a favor, 53 en contra y una abstención.
El texto insta al Poder Ejecutivo a “revocar las circulares, resoluciones u otros actos administrativos que dispongan el uso del lenguaje inclusivo en los distintos servicios públicos y dictar un decreto que ordene el correcto uso del idioma español, prohibiendo toda distorsión gramatical basada en el género, la etnia u otras categorías identitarias”. El diputado Jorge Alessandri (UDI), presidente de la Cámara, dio lectura a la propuesta, señalando que esta busca “prohibir de forma inmediata toda distorsión gramatical basada en el género, la etnia u otras categorías identitarias”. Por su parte, el diputado republicano Cristián Araya celebró la aprobación de la medida en redes sociales con el mensaje: “¡Adiós a la dictadura ‘woke’!”.
