On 24 July 2026, environmental activist Shakila Zen was summoned by the Pekan District Police Headquarters (IPD Pekan) to give a statement under Section 500 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act. The investigation stems from a now-deleted ‘Threads’ post on 10 May 2026, in which she allegedly defamed the Pahang royal institution by relating the institution to sand mining activities. The event is currently ongoing as the initial summon was issued on 24 July and her statement date finalised for 7 August 2026.
