The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) has scheduled a public hearing for 5 August in Washington, D.C., in response to a request filed by Chilean human rights organizations (including Londres 38 and the Association for Memory and Human Rights Colonia Dignidad) with the support of 82 other civil society organizations. The hearing will examine allegations of institutional weakening and setbacks in human rights policies that have been observed since President José Antonio Kast took office in March of this year.
