On Monday 27 April 2026, a coalition of civil society “vital forces” organized a sit-in at the territory administration grounds to demand the resignation of the Territorial Administrator. She was accused of poor governance since her return to Muanda, with allegations that she prioritized personal interests over the fulfillment of her public service duties. The protesters carried palm branches, wore headbands, and chanted slogans opposing the authority.
According to a credible source who attended the sit in’ that day, while attempting to submit their memorandum, some demonstrators tried to approach the administrative office. The Congolese National Police responded by using tear gas to disperse the crowd, and several individuals were arrested, including Pastor Roger Vangu, a member of the coalition and one of the initiators of the sit-in.
Those detained were released after several hours at the local police sub-station, following advocacy efforts by provincial members of parliament.
Repession des manifestants suivie des interpellations lors du sit in du collectif des forces vives de la société civile à Muanda, province du Kongo Central
Lundi 27 avril 2026, le collectif des forces vives de la société civile a organisé un sit-in au terrain du bâtiment du territoire pour exiger le départ de madame l’Administrateur du Territoire. Il lui est reproché de mauvaise gouvernance depuis son retour à Muanda, estimant qu’elle privilégierait des intérêts personnels au détriment de sa mission de service public. Les manifestants sont munis de rameaux, arborant des bandeaux sur la tête et scandant des chants hostiles à l’autorité.
Selon une source crédible ayant participé au sit-in ce jour-là, pour le dépôt de leur mémorandum, certains manifestants ont tenté de se rapprocher du bureau administratif, la Police Nationale Congolaise a fait usage de gaz lacrymogènes pour les disperser et certains parmi eux ont été interpellés dont le pasteur Roger Vangu, un des membres du collectif et initiateur de ce sit-in.
Les personnes interpellées ont été libérées après plusieurs heures au sous commissariat grâce au plaidoyer fait par les députés provinciaux.
