On February 16, 2026, Federal Police forces aligned with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) conducted a raid on the residence of Manal Mustafa, a former Nyala Radio journalist, in the Texas area of southern Nyala near Qadra Market. She was apprehended around 8:00 PM and transferred to the Nyala Police Station located in the main market area. Manal Mustafa operates “Al-Manhal,” a centre based at her home that empowers women through pastry-making and business training. Sources from the Human Rights Watch Network – Sudan indicated that her detention was prompted by a recent session she led for female journalists at her residence, which had been organised under the “Women Journalists for Peace” initiative two weeks earlier.
