The Executive Order, issued by US President Donald Trump on 20 January 2025, to halt US foreign development assistance to foreign countries, NGOs and international organisations, has affected the resource base for CSOs in Mexico, with an estimated 100 million USD earmarked for Mexico now frozen. Additionally, Mexican authorities have, besides downplaying the freezing of funding, discredited CSOs as funding opposition or promote hidden interests.
